Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James wasn't at his peak form in Wednesday's 116-99 Game 5 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

James didn't mince words after a contest in which he scored just 15 points on 5-of-17 shooting, including 1-of-9 from deep, and coughed up five turnovers compared to five assists.

"Tonight, I was shit. And I'll be better in Game 6," James told reporters including The Athletic's Jovan Buha after the game.

On a night where the Lakers' starters were solid for the majority of the game, James was a unit-worst minus-1.

Wednesday's tilt was the first time all series James failed to top 20 points, and the 38-year-old made at least 44% of his field goals in each of those games. He's made 16.7% of his 36 3-pointers in the series.

With his co-star having an off-night, Anthony Davis picked up the slack in a big way, going off for 31 points and 19 rebounds against an undermanned Memphis frontline.

Despite James' struggles, the Lakers still have a 3-2 series lead over the Grizzlies with a chance to advance from the first round at home on Friday.

Notably, James' outspoken opponent, Dillon Brooks, scored only eight points on an inefficient 3-of-15 from the floor.
