Clippers lose Jones for at least 2 weeks due to hamstring strain
Los Angeles Clippers wing Derrick Jones Jr. will be re-evaluated in two weeks after suffering a hamstring strain in Sunday's 117-106 loss to the Houston Rockets, the team announced.
Jones sustained the injury while playing all 12 minutes of the first quarter against Houston and did not make an appearance outside the opening frame. He managed just two points on one field goal before bowing out.
The 27-year-old's injury adds to a growing list of absences for the Clippers. Terance Mann is not expected to return until late-December because of a fractured finger on his left hand, and star forward Kawhi Leonard is still without a return date from the lingering right knee issue that has kept him out all season.
Some good news is on the horizon for L.A. regarding Leonard, however. Head coach Tyronn Lue said the two-time Finals MVP took part in limited practice Tuesday with no contact but added that Leonard will not play in any games this week. James Harden, meanwhile, who missed the loss to Houston with groin tightness, participated in full practice Tuesday.
