Ant blasts refs for unequal treatment: 'They're f-----g terrible'
Warning: Story contains coarse language
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards went on an expletive-filled rant directed at the officials Saturday night after Minnesota's 113-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
"They're f-----g terrible. All of them, besides the woman, but the other two dudes: terrible," Edwards said during his postgame interview, according to Dane Moore of the Dane Moore Podcast.
"Excuses (for the) reason they call a foul, the reason they don't call a foul, this shit was terrible. They don't want to talk back to my coach. They don't want to me. I said one thing to the ref and he gave me a tech," Edwards continued.
The three officials - Sean Wright, Sean Corbin, and Simone Jelks - called 18 personal fouls and one technical infraction against the Timberwolves.
Minnesota averages 18.1 personal fouls per game, the sixth-fewest in the NBA.
"(The refs) penalize me and (Julius Randle) for being stronger than our opponent every night. We don't get no calls," Edwards lamented. "That's how I feel about the officials every game that we play."
He added: "Tonight was bad. (Golden State) was getting ticky-tack fouls and we weren't getting nothing."
Edwards scored a team-high 19 points while shooting 6-for-20 from the field. The Georgia product was awarded only four free-throw attempts.
The Warriors, meanwhile, were penalized 23 times. Second-year guard Brandin Podziemski received a technical foul for asking the referees to stop the game because of a spilled beverage.
The call would be rescinded after a review by the officiating crew.
Warriors guard Dennis Schroder was also assessed a technical foul in the third quarter.
The 14-13 Timberwolves have lost three of their past five games, tumbling to 10th in the Western Conference. They're scheduled to play the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.
