Report: LeBron, Bronny turn down Skills Challenge invite

LeBron James and Bronny James declined the league's invitation to become the first father-son duo to compete in the Skills Challenge at All-Star Weekend, sources told NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Bronny also turned down an invitation to be among the G League players to participate in the Rising Stars game, Haynes reports.

LeBron, 40, is a 20-time All-Star and competed in the Skills Challenge in 2006 and 2007. Dwyane Wade won both years.

LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo to play together in NBA history in the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 23.

Since then, Bronny has only appeared in 10 other games while splitting time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate. He's averaged 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in seven games for South Bay.

LeBron is averaging 23.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and nine assists for the 23-18 Lakers.

This year's Skills Challenge takes place Feb. 15 in San Francisco.
