Grizz ship Bane to Magic for KCP, Anthony, 4 1st-rounders
The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-rounders, and a pick swap, Orlando announced Sunday.
The Grizzlies will receive the 16th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, a first-round selection in 2026, 2028, and 2030, and top-two-protected swap rights to a first-round selection in 2029. The 2026 pick includes swap rights from either the Phoenix Suns or Washington Wizards.
Bane, 26, is a career 41% 3-point shooter. He'll add valuable spacing to an Orlando squad that was dead last in 3-point percentage last season (31.8%).
The TCU product averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 assists, and 6.1 rebounds in 69 games for Memphis. He has four years left on his deal after inking his max rookie extension valued at $197 million in the summer of 2023. Bane will make $36.7 million in 2025-26.
Orlando enticed Caldwell-Pope to leave the Denver Nuggets with a three-year, $66-million deal last summer, but the veteran failed to live up to expectations. He averaged just 8.7 points and 1.8 assists while shooting 34.2% from deep and 43.9% from the field.
Anthony had spent his entire career with the Magic after being drafted 15th overall in 2020. He was one of Orlando's key bench pieces last season, averaging 9.4 points and 2.9 assists in 67 games.
Both Orlando and Memphis were eliminated in the opening round of the 2025 postseason.
