Villanova picked up the first member of its 2018 recruiting class with the commitment of Brandon Slater on Wednesday.

Slater announced his decision on Twitter, choosing the Wildcats over the likes of Louisville, Maryland, and Miami.

"Going up there it just feels like a second home," Slater told Scout's Evan Daniels of his decision. "It gives me a good vibe. It's nothing like all the other schools. I just feel like a Villanova guy. It feels like PVI. It's already home."

The 6-foot-5 Slater is a four-star small forward out of Paul VI Catholic High School in FairFax, Va., and is rated as the 42nd overall recruit in the 2018 class by ESPN. He averaged 15.2 points, seven rebounds, and three assists as a junior this past season.
