North Carolina basketball won't visit White House; unable to agree on date

North Carolina's 2016-17 national title-winning team will not visit the White House, a team spokesman confirmed to Andrew Carter of The News & Observer.

The Tar Heels were invited, but the two parties couldn't agree on a date. North Carolina spokesman Steve Kirschner did note the players "were fine with going."

"We couldn't find a date that worked for both parties," he said. "We tried about eight or nine dates and between they couldn't work out that date, we couldn't work out that date, so - we would have liked to have gone, but not going."

The announcement from the Tar Heels comes at an interesting time, as president Donald Trump withdrew a White House invite to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday after Stephen Curry said he wouldn't attend.

Trump also blasted NFL players who protest the national anthem by kneeling while speaking a rally Friday in Alabama.
