Syracuse senior guard Frank Howard will not play in the NCAA Tournament for an "indefinite period of time" due to violating the athletic department policy.

Though the school did not specify a limit on Howard's suspension, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim confirmed he will not feature in his side's first-round matchup Thursday against Baylor.

"We practiced with the inclination that this would be the case," Boeheim told reporters Wednesday, courtesy of CBS Sports.

Howard averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 assists, and two rebounds in 29 games this season. He dropped a season-high 28 points in Thursday's loss to Duke.
