We're officially two months into the college football season as we head into week eight. This is the period where each game is crucial for BCS standings and other strong bowl game possibilities.

Over the course of the season Covers Expert Zack Cimini will evaluate programs outside of the Power 5 conferences with potential value from a point spread perspective. Here are under the radar matchups to keep your eyes on this week.

Team to Watch - Idaho Vandals
This week: +14 vs. Missouri Tigers

Last bowl season the Idaho Vandals were the darlings of moneyline players as they upset Colorado State. However, nearly nothing has carried over to the Vandals 2017 season as they've lost in every conceivable way possible and are now 2-4.

Perhaps their loss last week with a big lead over Appalachian State was their season low. They'll need to snap out of it quickly as they take on SEC opponent Missouri. A lack of consistency from the Vandals offensively has crushed their chances of going to another bowl game. Another lackluster affair surely won't help Saturday.

Expect the Vandals to come out swinging against the Tigers. Strong armed quarterback Matt Linehan should be able to have success against a Mizzu defense that ranks 117th in the country against the pass.

Team to Beware - Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
This week: +23.5 vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers

Backers of Appalachian State have been chasing the number for neaarly the entire season and not in a good way. The Mountaineers are just 2-4 against the spread, which is in contrast of the strong victories of years past.

Expectations can derail any team and it seems that senior quarterback Taylor Lamb is struggling with his confidence. The four year starter has struggled to get Appalachian State the volume offensive scoring of years past.

That should change against Sun Belt newcomer Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are 1-5 overall SU/ATS and are winless so far in conference play. Yet with a steep spread in Saturday's matchup one has to be cautious with two teams a combined 3-9 ATS.

Total team - Temple Owls
This week: O/U 45.5 @ Army

The Owls head into a matchup against independent Army off an ugly loss to UConn. As 10-point favorites the Owls were behind the majority of the game and fell 28-24.

Army on the other hand is coming off a disciplined performance that led to a 28-27 victory over Eastern Michigan.

Assessing Saturday's matchup from a total standpoint hinders on the shoulders of Temple's inconsistency offense. Their season-high in points scored has been thirty-four against East Carolina.

A positive for Owls fans is sophomore quarterback Logan Marchi has thrown for over 300 yards in consecutive games. They'll need his rising confidence to continue against an Army defense that is prone to big plays through the passing game.
