Darnold re-aggravated ankle injury vs. Notre Dame

Brian Spurlock / USA Today Sports

If Saturday's 49-14 blowout loss at the hands of rival Notre Dame wasn't already bad enough, USC quarterback Sam Darnold tweaked an ankle injury he's been dealing with since Week 5, head coach Clay Helton told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

After completing 20 of 28 passes for 229 yards, along with two touchdowns and one interception, Darnold was replaced by Matt Fink with the game well out of reach.

Darnold has led the Trojans to a 6-2 record this season, completing 62.7 percent of his passes along the way. There's no word yet on his status for next week's matchup at Arizona State.
