Temple has chosen Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey as its new head coach and a deal is close to being completed, a source told Marc Narducci of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
A formal announcement is expected by Friday.
Carey will take over Temple after the previous hire, Manny Diaz, left to coach Miami weeks after accepting the job.
The 47-year-old Carey won two Mid-American Conference championships in six seasons and accumulated a 52-30 record.
The Owls made four straight bowl appearances under Geoff Collins and Matt Rhule.
