USC's Daniels out for season with ACL injury, meniscus tear

USC quarterback JT Daniels will miss the remainder of the 2019 season after suffering an ACL injury and meniscus tear on Saturday, head coach Clay Helton announced on Sunday, according to The Athletic's Stewart Mandel.

Daniels left the Trojans' win over Fresno State late in the second quarter after being sacked and landing awkwardly. He was helped off the field and later carted to the locker room.

The sophomore went 25-for-34 passing for 215 yards with one touchdown and an interception before leaving.

Daniels started 11 games last season for USC. The team finished with a 5-7 record, and Daniels missed one game due to a concussion. He threw for 2,672 yards in 2018 with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

True freshman Kedon Slovis stepped in for Daniels on Saturday, finishing with 57 passing yards and one interception.

Aside from Daniels and Slovis, redshirt junior Matt Fink is the only other quarterback listed on the Trojans' roster.
