In an SEC battle between two ranked opponents, No. 8 Georgia defeated No. 6 Florida on Saturday in Jacksonville.

With the 24-17 victory, Georgia (7-1) climbs atop the SEC East standings. Florida drops to 7-2.

Starting pivots Jake Fromm and Kyle Trask each threw two touchdown passes and didn't turn the ball over. Georgia controlled the ball through the ground, however, leading in time of possession 35:48 to 24:12 and outrushing Florida 119 yards to 21.

The Bulldogs led 16-3 entering the fourth quarter. A Trask touchdown pass to Van Jefferson pulled the Gators within one score, but Fromm responded three minutes later with a 52-yard touchdown toss to Lawrence Cager to put Georgia up 24-10.

The win puts Georgia in position to represent the East division in the SEC conference title game. On the West side of the conference, 8-0 Alabama and 8-0 LSU will meet next week in a matchup of the two top-ranked teams in the country.
