LSU head coach Ed Orgeron was named the 2019 Home Depot Coach of the Year on Wednesday after leading the Tigers to a perfect regular season and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.

Orgeron also won the SEC Coach of the Year award, while quarterback Joe Burrow was awarded the conference's honor for the top offensive player.

LSU earned its first CFP berth by going 12-0 in the regular season and blowing out Georgia for the SEC title. It will play fourth-ranked Oklahoma on Dec. 28 in the Peach Bowl.

The Tigers also took down five teams that were ranked in the top 10 at the time of the matchup, including then-No. 2 Alabama.

Orgeron is in his third full season as LSU's head coach. He has racked up a 38-9 record, including winning 23 out of 30 games in the SEC.
