Former prized quarterback recruit JT Daniels announced Thursday he's transferring to Georgia after two seasons at USC.

Barring a waiver from the NCAA, Daniels will have to sit out one season before becoming eligible for up to three campaigns.

Daniels was once thought to be USC's future quarterback, but a torn ACL in the 2019 season opener derailed those plans. He entered the transfer portal after the Trojans decided to move ahead with Kedon Slovis, who played well in place of Daniels last year, as their starting passer.

Daniels went 25-for-34 passing for 215 yards with a touchdown and an interception against Fresno State before going down last season. He completed 59.5% of his pass attempts for 2,672 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as a freshman. The 20-year-old started all 12 games he appeared in at USC.

Georgia will welcome Daniels to a quarterback depth chart that already features Jamie Newman, who joined the Bulldogs on a graduate transfer from Wake Forest. If Daniels receives immediate eligibility, Georgia will host one of the nation's most-watched quarterback battles in fall camp.

Long term, the Bulldogs received a verbal commitment from Brock Vandagriff, the fifth-ranked pocket passer in the 2021 recruiting class.
