Week 6 viewer's guide: A look at Saturday's top games

Each Friday, theScore will preview the week's best matchups on the college football calendar. Here are the top games to watch in Week 6.

No. 4 Florida at No. 21 Texas A&M (Noon ET, ESPN)

The Kyle-to-Kyle connection for Florida is firing on all cylinders, with Kyle Trask emerging as a Heisman favorite thanks to his chemistry with Kyle Pitts. The star quarterback, who returns to his home state this week to face Texas A&M, is second in the country with 10 touchdown passes, even after playing only two games. He now gets to clash with an Aggies defense that gave up a whopping 435 passing yards to Alabama's Mac Jones last weekend. It could be another huge day for Trask in College Station.

On the other side, Texas A&M continues to wait for a sign that Jimbo Fisher's massive contract was a wise idea. The former Florida State head coach is 0-7 vs. AP top-five teams since coming to the SEC in 2018, with his average margin of defeat 19 points. While Florida's offense has been dominant, the Gators' defense has looked very pedestrian through two games. If Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond can take advantage, Fisher could secure a much-needed upset victory at home.

No. 22 Texas vs. Oklahoma (Noon ET, FOX)

Texas enters coming off a home loss to TCU, while Oklahoma limps into this one after back-to-back regular-season losses for the first time since 1999. This isn't the Red River Rivalry we've grown accustomed to over the years.

While there are issues on either side of the ball for both teams, the defensive struggles have stood out the most in Big 12 play. Texas has allowed 56 and 33 points over its past two games, with Texas Tech and TCU both piling up over 440 yards of total offense.

The Sooners haven't been much better, with Oklahoma allowing 30-plus points in each of its conference games en route to an 0-2 record in Big 12 action. Points should be easy to come by at the Cotton Bowl, so the defense that gets timely stops will likely decide the Big 12's highest-profile rivalry.

This game also comes with heightened anxiety for both coaches, as another loss for either team will almost surely put a Big 12 title out of reach.

No. 14 Tennessee at No. 3 Georgia (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS)

With eight straight wins, it's clear that head coach Jeremy Pruitt is making some serious progress with Tennessee. If the Volunteers make it nine, the entire country will take notice. They enter this week as one of college football's hottest teams, but No. 3 Georgia presents a challenge Tennessee hasn't faced since last October.

The Bulldogs are fresh off of absolutely dominating Auburn last weekend, with their smothering defense holding Gus Malzahn's outfit to just 216 total yards. It will be up to the Volunteers' experienced offensive line to slow down Georgia's defense and give quarterback Jarrett Guarantano time. There's a reason the Bulldogs are 12.5-point favorites, but they're facing a possible letdown spot after the big win over the Tigers, and Tennessee could make this contest competitive.

No. 2 Alabama at Ole Miss (6:00 p.m. ET, ESPN)

This one might not be close, but it's absolutely going to be entertaining. For the first time as head coach of Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin faces his former boss Nick Saban and Alabama. Kiffin wasted no time injecting some fun into the proceedings this week, with the two sharing jokes about whether the 45-year-old could beat the 68-year-old Saban if they were suiting up on the field.

Through two games of Kiffin's tenure in Oxford, a couple of things are clear: Ole Miss is going to score a bunch of points, and the Rebels will give up even more. They've allowed 92 points, but somehow Ole Miss won last week at Kentucky despite getting gashed for over 400 rushing yards.

With Najee Harris and the Crimson Tide's electric offense coming to town, the scoreboard operator will be working overtime.

No. 7 Miami at No. 1 Clemson (7:30 p.m., ABC)

Since the start of the 2018 season, Clemson's average margin of victory in the ACC is a whopping 34 points. So yeah, it's been a while since the Tigers faced a conference opponent as dangerous as Miami.

D'Eriq King and the Hurricanes' high-powered offense comes to Death Valley off a 52-10 drubbing of Florida State. And while still a strong outfit, the Tigers' defense isn't the same dominant unit as in years past, opening the door a crack for Miami to put up some points.

Whether the Hurricanes can keep up with Clemson is the question, as Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence looks as strong as ever. The presumptive No. 1 pick in next year's NFL draft hasn't thrown an interception since Oct. 19, 2019, piling up 29 touchdown passes in that span. If the turnover chain makes an appearance on Saturday, Miami will have a shot at grabbing the upset victory.
