Mississippi State goes back to Costello after brief benching

Just two games after he set the single-game SEC passing record, Mississippi State benched quarterback K.J. Costello in the third quarter versus Kentucky.

Freshman Will Rogers came in to replace the Stanford graduate transfer after he completed 31 of 45 passes for just 200 yards and three interceptions.

The move didn't seem to spark the Bulldogs, however, as Rogers threw an interception shortly after entering the game. Mike Leach opted to go back to Costello in the fourth quarter.

Mississippi State has scored just 14 points on offense in six quarters and counting since Costello threw for 623 yards in the opening win over LSU.
