Mullen: Florida QBs 'know the plan' ahead of Alabama game
Florida head coach Dan Mullen already knows how he'll manage quarterbacks Emory Jones and Anthony Richardson against No. 1 Alabama.
"They know what we have scheduled going into the game," Mullen said, according to ESPN's Alex Scarborough.
He added that both passers "know the plan" ahead of Saturday.
Richardson has impressed with his performance as a backup through two contests. He's passed for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and leads the team with 275 rushing yards.
The redshirt freshman is on track to play this weekend after straining his right hamstring on an 80-yard touchdown run in the second half against USF last week.
"He's looked fine. He's still practiced every day," Mullen said Wednesday, according to The Orlando Sentinel's Edgar Thompson. "He's getting treatment, making sure that he's healthy, ready to go."
Despite Richardson's strong play, Mullen maintains that Jones is the Gators' starting signal-caller. The redshirt junior passer has thrown for 264 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 155 rushing yards. However, he's also thrown four interceptions.
Meanwhile, Alabama head coach Nick Saban doesn't project a change in game plan regardless of who's under center for the Gators. Saban believes both Richardson and Jones play a similar style as dual-threat passers and runners.
"It's more challenging when you play against guys and both guys are very efficient, effective passers as well as runners," Saban said.
