The College Football Playoff is considering Las Vegas and Miami as future hosts for the national championship game, sources told ESPN's Heather Dinich on Friday.

The CFP is in the eighth year of a 12-year agreement that runs through the 2025 season and hasn't finalized the locations of the 2025 and 2026 national championship games.

Las Vegas is expected to host the 2025 final, with Miami following in 2026, sources told Brett McMurphy of Action Network.

Returning to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium would mark the first time the national championship game has been played twice at the same venue. The stadium previously hosted the title matchup in 2021.

The 2023 championship game is set to take place in Los Angeles, and Houston will host in 2024.

CFP executive director Bill Hancock said that choosing sites for the title game depends on ongoing discussions related to expanding the playoff field.

"When the CFP format has been finalized for those years, then the management committee will confirm the game dates, then we will talk to potential host cities about the expectations of a host," Hancock said, per Dinich.

The CFP committee is expected to meet Saturday in an attempt to agree on adopting an expanded format before the 2024 season.

Alabama is set to face Georgia on Jan. 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
