Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, and TCU maintained their places as the nation's top four teams in the latest College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday.

The Wolverines and Horned Frogs each flirted with their first loss of the season Saturday and needed late game-winning field goals to edge Illinois and Baylor, respectively. Michigan visits Ohio State next in one of the most anticipated matchups of their storied rivalry. Both teams head into their clash at 11-0 for the first time since 2006.

Rank Team Record Previous Rank
1 Georgia 11-0 1
2 Ohio State 11-0 2
3 Michigan 11-0 3
4 TCU 11-0 4

Tennessee, which entered the week as the fifth-ranked team, dropped five spots after suffering a 63-38 loss to South Carolina. With the Volunteers' slip, LSU and USC jumped one spot each to round out the top six. The Tigers defeated UAB on Saturday, while USC earned arguably its best win of the year against No. 18 UCLA.

LSU could become the first two-loss team in CFP history to make the semifinals if it wins its final two games. It won't be easy, though, as the Tigers visit a struggling Texas A&M on Saturday before facing Georgia in the SEC championship game.

USC is also in a good position. The Trojans would have one of the nation's strongest resumes if they finished the year with two more wins. Lincoln Riley's outfit faces No. 15 Notre Dame this week before playing in the Pac-12 title game.
