Carmella becomes WWE's 1st-ever Women's Money in the Bank winner

It was promoted as being the first women's Money in the Bank Ladder match in WWE history, yet, when it was all said and done, a man was the one bringing down the briefcase hanging high above the ring.

Carmella was declared the winner Sunday night at the Scottrade Center against Natalya, Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Tamina, but it was James Ellsworth who did all of the work.

With Carmella laid out on the canvas, Ellsworth ascended the ladder to take control of the briefcase, dropping it into The Princess of Staten Island's lap.

The referees at ringside debated over whether or not the match could end in such a fashion, but before they could reach a consensus, Ellsworth grabbed a microphone and declared Carmella the victor to the WWE Universe.

Inside of the briefcase is a contract for a SmackDown Women's Championship match at any time Carmella sees fit, although general manager Daniel Bryan tweeted out that Sunday's controversial ending will be addressed Tuesday night on SmackDown Live.
