Lesnar defeats Styles to win battle of world champs at WWE Survivor Series

"The greatest in-ring performer of his generation," as Paul Heyman dubbed A.J. Styles earlier this week, put up a valiant effort Sunday night, yet he was no match for The Beast Incarnate.

In a battle of world titleholders, Monday Night Raw's Universal Champion Brock Lesnar F-5'd his way to a pinfall win by defeating SmackDown Live WWE Champion Styles at Survivor Series.

Lesnar controlled the action early, sending Styles to Suplex City with a series of belly-to-back tosses across the ring.

The resilient Styles rallied, though, rocking Lesnar with a number of forearm shots, an enziguri, and a springboard 450 splash. He even had Lesnar on the brink of submission with a Calf Crusher, but Lesnar broke it up by slamming Styles' head repeatedly into the mat.

As chants of "this is awesome" echoed throughout the Toyota Center, Lesnar hoisted Styles up for an F-5, but Styles held on to the top rope. Styles then drilled Lesnar with a Phenomenal Forearm, yet only managed a count of two.

Styles went for another after removing his elbow pad, but Lesnar caught him in midair, spinning Styles into his F-5 for the victory.

This tied the score at three apiece between Raw and SmackDown Live, with the five-on-five men's traditional elimination main event determining the winning brand.
