Updated Belmont Stakes betting odds
Tacitus is still the betting favorite hours before the start of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday.
The son of former 2017 Belmont winner Tapwrit was third in the odds list at the Kentucky Derby at 5.80-1. Heading into Saturday, he leads fellow Run for the Roses challenger War of Will to take this weekend's race.
Here's the full updated list of prices for the Belmont Stakes:
Post | Horse | Odds |
---|---|---|
10 | Tacitus | 7-4 |
9 | War of Will | 11-4 |
8 | Intrepid Heart | 10-1 |
6 | Spinoff | 10-1 |
5 | Bourbon War | 12-1 |
3 | Master Fencer | 12-1 |
7 | Sir Winston | 12-1 |
4 | Tax | 14-1 |
2 | Everfast | 16-1 |
1 | Joevia | 33-1 |
There's been some shake-up from earlier in the week. Intrepid Heart went from 12-1 to 10-1; Spinoff catapulted from 16-1 to 10-1; Sir Winston climbed from 18-1 to 12-1; Tax jumped from 18-1 to 14-1; both Master Fencer and Everfast shot back in the odds after sitting 10-1 and 12-1, respectively; Joevia and Bourbon War remain stagnant at their respective prices.
While the Belmont Stakes has been a tremendous spot to back the underdogs - only seven of the previous 33 winners have been the favorite - Tacitus is set up nicely for this one, previously winning both the Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby and Wood Memorial prior to a third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby. Meanwhile, horses that ran in the Derby but skipped out on the Preakness Stakes such as Tacitus have fared well in recent history.
