TNF player props: Best bets for Rams-Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night to kick off Week 5 of the NFL season. Here are some player prop bets to keep an eye out for during the prime-time, divisional clash.

Russell Wilson under 257.5 passing yards

I won't lie: Fading Wilson in this spot scares the hell out of me. The veteran quarterback has been spectacular in prime-time games over his career, posting a QBR 7.3 points higher than in games played during the day. The Seahawks, in general, have been lights-out in prime time, going 15-3-1 against the spread under head coach Pete Carroll. Wilson has a lot to do with that, but I'm not sure I love this matchup for him.

Perhaps Carroll doesn't want to get in a shootout with the Rams? Wilson has only attempted more than 30 passes once against L.A. in the previous four meetings. And despite averaging just shy of 300 yards per game this season, Wilson has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in each of his last four against the Rams. After playing the likes of Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and Arizona, Wilson faces a Rams secondary allowing just 238.5 yards through the air per game ... and that includes the 376-yard performance from Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston last week.

Todd Gurley over 2.5 receptions

This feels like a slam dunk. There's no denying Gurley's role has been severely reduced in the Rams' offense. Take last week, for example, when the star running back carried the ball just five times against the Buccaneers. However, the coaching staff seems like it's at least trying to get Gurley involved, as evidenced by him catching seven of his 11 targets out of the backfield against Tampa. Seattle has allowed at least four receptions to opposing running backs in every game this season, including 17 over the last two weeks.

Will Dissly under 4.5 receptions

While Dissly's prop in Week 4 against the Cardinals was cake, that organization doesn't know how to cover tight ends. L.A., however, does.

The Rams have been stout against tight ends all season, allowing quarterbacks to complete less than 50% of their passes thrown that way for an average of 36.5 yards per game. Dissly's sort of becoming a thing in the Seahawks' offense - he's seen the third-most targets of any Seattle pass-catcher through four weeks - but there's no denying he's gotten some optimal matchups against brutal defenses.

After going over the total on his yards last week, I'd flip the script and fade him against the Rams.
