Another week brings another collection of gut-wrenching bad beats for football bettors.

There's a reason we wait until Monday to release these. Hopefully, if you were on the wrong end of one or more of these outcomes, you've had enough time to hit the reset button.

Notre Dame 45, Stanford 24

Bad beat: Stanford +17

This is like, the seventh time Stanford has featured in a bad beats piece this season. If you're hopping off Cardinal games for the next couple of years until the bad juju passes, I don't blame you.

During Saturday's game against Notre Dame, Stanford allowed a touchdown late in the fourth to go down 38-17. The Cardinal then drove the field in seven plays to regain the cover with just a few minutes left. After forcing the Fighting Irish to punt, Stanford got the ball with its back to the end zone. I'll just let you guess what happened next.

Syracuse 39, Wake Forest 30

Bad beat: Under 68

I want to vomit every time I even skim over this box score.

After Wake Forest and Syracuse combined for just 23 points in the first half, they erupted for 37 combined in the second to force overtime. Syracuse settled for a field goal to make it 33-30 in the extra session, so under bettors needed a stop.

And they got the stop.

But here's the thing: The defender did not stop running the other way.

This is nightmare-inducing.

Chiefs 40, Raiders 9

Bad beat: Under 48.5

Let's paint the picture, shall we?

The Chiefs were beating the tar out of the Raiders, 38-3, in the final seconds of Sunday's game. After Oakland scored a meaningless touchdown to make it 38-9, over bettors needed head coach Jon Gruden to keep the offense on the field; the only hope was a two-point conversion.

Texans 28, Patriots 22

Bad beats: Under 47

There's nothing better than a prevent defense ... unless you have the under.

With the Patriots trailing the Texans 28-15, New England made a late stop to force a punt back to Tom Brady's offense with a little over two minutes left. The next offensive drive played out as such:

• 15-yard run
• 3-yard run
• Incomplete pass
• 21-yard pass
• Defensive penalty
• 36-yard pass

And it was all capped off by this:

"A meaningless touchdown," they call it.
