Reese: Hopefully, Clark and I can be teammates one day
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese would welcome the opportunity to team up with longtime rival Caitlin Clark in the WNBA.
Reese mentioned the possibility of playing with Clark while discussing the viral hand gesture she directed at the former Iowa star during the 2023 NCAA women's championship game.
"Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids. It's just a full circle moment of how women are viewed when it comes to trash-talking," Reese said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. "It's OK in men's sports, so we're gonna normalize that in women's sports as well.
"It's just super competitive. I think we're two great competitors. We brought a lot of fans to this league, and I think we're gonna continue to do that. And one day, hopefully, we can be teammates."
Reese and Clark joined up at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, helping lead Team WNBA to a 117-109 win over Team USA.
Reese averaged 13.6 points and a league-high 13.1 rebounds per game before a wrist injury ended her rookie campaign. She also set a new WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles with 15 straight.
Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and a league-high 8.4 assists per contest for the Indiana Fever this season to win WNBA Rookie of the Year.
