New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was on the field Saturday against the Houston Texans, marking the first time he's appeared in a preseason game since 2012.
Gronkowski played 15 snaps, but wasn't targeted and didn't record a reception.
Considering the 28-year-old's injury history, it was surprising to see Gronkowski out there, and a risk Patriots head coach Bill Belichick doesn't usually take at this time of year.
Gronkowski's season was cut short a year ago when he underwent back surgery and missed New England's march to another Super Bowl.
