Cardinals' Johnson provides no timeline for recovery

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson spoke candidly for the first time about the wrist injury he suffered during his team's opener against the Detroit Lions, which has sidelined him indefinitely.

Cardinals general manager Steve Keim hinted that Johnson could be back sooner than expected during an interview Monday. However, Johnson didn't indicate what the timeline for his recovery would be.

"Really just see how it goes," Johnson said via ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "Just rehab obviously after the cast and everything. We'll see what happens."

Johnson said he doesn't care about how his injury impacts fantasy football, noting that he's more bothered by the fact he can't hold his infant son.

"I can't really carry my son," Johnson said via the team's official website. "I get a little nervous. He's getting a little more squirmy. It’s hard to carry him. My wife doesn't really trust me."

Johnson is arguably the NFL's most dynamic offensive player and his injury is a certain deterrent to a Cardinals team that hasn't looked impressive through their first two games.

Chris Johnson, Kerwynn Williams, and Andre Ellington will continue to vie for carries in the All-Pro's absence.
