The fog that rolled into Gillette Stadium on Sunday night didn't just confuse the viewers at home - it baffled the players, too.

Tom Brady explained Monday that he thought the heavy layer of fog that appeared in Foxboro for the second half was from some fireworks celebrations he was previously unaware of.

"It was so still. I don't remember too many nights playing where it was so calm. No wind. I mean it really couldn't go anywhere so it just kind of sat. I actually did think - was there kind of a firework celebration at halftime?" the New England Patriots quarterback told WEEI, according to 247 Sports' Tyler Sullivan. "When we came out at halftime, I don't know if there was anything they did (at Gillette Stadium), but I thought it was more foggy when we came out in the second half."

The weather didn't seem to stifle the Patriots' performance as they defeated the Atlanta Falcons 23-7, which allowed Brady to appreciate the unique experience Sunday.

"That was one of the crazier games I've ever been at," said Brady. "I've never seen the fog like that in Foxboro. We've had some practices like that, but never a game. That was pretty cool."
