Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert has been suspended four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance policy, announced GM Kevin Colbert.

We are disappointed that Marcus Gilbert has been suspended four games for using performance-enhancing substances. He will not appeal the NFL’s decision.

The suspension is effective immediately, and he will not be permitted in the building until after the suspension has concluded following our game on Dec. 17.

Gilbert released an apology Monday evening, claiming he took the banned substance by mistake.

This is the third year in a row where a Steelers player has been dealt a suspension. Le'Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant picked up bans for violating the substance abuse policy last campaign.

Gilbert missed five contests this season due to an ankle injury and a concussion. He will now miss games against the Packers, Bengals, Ravens, and Patriots.

Chris Hubbard is expected to fill Gilbert's role.
