The Kansas City Chiefs signed free-agent cornerback David Amerson, the club announced Friday.

Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports the contract is worth a base salary of $2.25 million for one season.

The deal could be worth up to $6 million with incentives, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Amerson played just six games for the Oakland Raiders last season, making 18 combined tackles with four defended passes. He missed the final nine contests due to a foot injury.

The 26-year-old was released earlier this month, before his $5.5-million salary for 2018 could become guaranteed.

A second-round pick of the Washington Redskins in the 2013 draft, Amerson was claimed off waivers by the Raiders early in the 2015 season. He earned a four-year, $38-million extension the following offseason after recording 58 combined tackles, 25 passes defended, and four interceptions in 14 games (12 starts).
