Report: Patriots acquire Pro Bowl returner Cordarrelle Patterson from Raiders

Jim Brown / USA TODAY Sports

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly traded two-time All-Pro return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson to the New England Patriots, according to Pardon My Take and confirmed by The Athletic's Vic Tafur.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the teams will swap late-round 2018 picks, with Oakland receiving a fifth-round selection and the Patriots a sixth-rounder.

Patterson accumulated 968 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in 2017, his first season with the Raiders after spending the first four years of his career in Minnesota.

One of the Vikings' three first-round selections in 2013, the speedy receiver never emerged as a top pass-catching option.

Patterson heads to New England as the most likely candidate to replace Dion Lewis as the team's kick returner. He may struggle for wideout snaps but offers versatility to line up in numerous positions on gadget-type plays.
