Papa John's founder John Schnatter continues to make headlines, this time in NFL circles.

After resigning as a Louisville trustee amid a report of him using the N-word on a conference call, Schnatter had some choice words regarding pro football's commissioner.

"We are very glad to get out of the NFL relationship, because we still get to sponsor some players and we still get to sponsor some teams and we still get to be part of the community," Schnatter said, via Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

"But we don't want to do business with Roger Goodell, period. And I don't want to do business with Roger Goodell, and we've had enough success where we get to pick who we do business with. And Roger Goodell runs the NFL, and we made a decision to get a divorce, and we did."

The NFL and Papa John's ended their sponsorship deal in February, a relationship that wasn't short on controversy. In October, Schnatter said players protesting during the national anthem hurt his business. The company later apologized in a statement.

Pizza Hut replaced Papa John's as the league's official pizza in February.
