Report: Falcons considering firing both coordinators

After a disappointing 2018 campaign, the Atlanta Falcons could be making several changes to their coaching staff.

Although head coach Dan Quinn is widely expected to be safe, there's a "strong possibility" the Falcons fire offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

"At this point, it sounds like a strong possibility that there will be significant changes to coach Dan Quinn's coaching staff," Pelissero said Tuesday. "Now, owner Arthur Blank has already said publicly he does not think Quinn is the problem. My understanding is Dan Quinn, who got a contract extension through 2022 just last summer, absolutely is going to be back, but this is a possibility here that he could clean out both of his coordinators, offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel."

The Falcons have slumped to a 5-9 record in a year where they were a popular preseason Super Bowl pick, ranking 10th in scoring offense (25.4 points per game) and 29th in scoring defense (27.2 points allowed per game).

Pelissero named former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell as a potential replacement for Sarkisian. Quinn and Bevell spent two seasons together with the Seahawks (2013-14), leading the team to two Super Bowl appearances and one victory before the former became the Falcons' head coach.
