The Green Bay Packers placed running back Aaron Jones on injured reserve Tuesday after he suffered a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Chicago Bears, the team announced.

Wide receiver Allen Lazard was signed to the 53-man roster off the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad in a corresponding move. Lazard, an undrafted free-agent signee in April, had not appeared in a game this season after making four catches for 46 yards in the preseason.

Jones was suspended for the first two games of 2018 due to a violation of the league's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

The 2017 fifth-round pick started eight of his final nine games, totaling 728 rushing yards, 206 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns over 12 contests. He is currently the league leader in rushing yards per attempt (5.5).

Running backs Jamaal Williams and Danny Vitale remain on the Packers' official depth chart and will be tasked with carrying the load in the running game over the team's final two games. They'll visit the New York Jets in Week 16.
