The Miami Dolphins are preparing for a rebuild and want to land one of the top quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL Draft, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon's Justin Herbert are expected to headline next year's quarterback crop, and one of them could become the long-term replacement for Ryan Tannehill. The pool of pivot prospects for 2019, led by Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins, is widely considered weak.

The Dolphins have made the playoffs just twice since 2002, and their last postseason win came in 2000.

Miami is expected to hire New England Patriots defensive assistant Brian Flores as its new head coach and focus on player development.
