Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco is hoping to engage in offseason discussions with quarterback Philip Rivers in regards to a contract extension.

"I can tell you he's not going anywhere, so he's going to be here," Telesco told ESPN's Eric D. Williams on Thursday. "We'll talk at the right point, as far as the moves we need to make in the offseason, the resources we have and how it all fits in. But yeah, he's not going anywhere."

With one season left on his four-year, $83.5-million contract, Rivers said he hasn't yet talked with the Chargers about an extension but would like to be wearing blue and yellow in September 2020 when the Chargers open their new stadium.

"I certainly feel that's something I want to be a part of and hopefully be helping us still winning football games," he said.

Head coach Anthony Lynn is hoping he can count on Rivers for a while still.

"After what he showed this year, I really think he can play for a couple more years, maybe even more - who knows?" Lynn said. "I don't know what these guys take these days, they play forever."

Rivers threw for 4,308 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions this season. He also tied a career high with a quarterback rating of 105.5. He led the Chargers to their first AFC divisional-round game in five years and earned his eighth trip to the Pro Bowl.
