The Cincinnati Bengals have finally settled upon a new defensive coordinator.

On Thursday, the Bengals hired Lou Anarumo, the New York Giants' defensive backs coach in 2018, to head up their defense.

Cincinnati waited until after the Super Bowl to hire former Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor as its new head coach, and he had a difficult time filling the defensive coordinator position in the time since. Among the many targets were former Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, former Green Bay Packers DC Dom Capers, Rams defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant, New Orleans Saints DB coach Aaron Glenn, and Florida DC Todd Grantham.

Anarumo served as the Miami Dolphins' defensive backs coach the six seasons prior to his year with the Giants.

"He's a great fit for what we want to build here in Cincinnati," Taylor said in a team release. "Lou is an excellent communicator who the players will have great respect for, and he will get the best out of them."
