Former NFL running back O.J. Simpson and his infamous white Ford Bronco were set to be depicted in the sequel to "Forrest Gump," a project that was nixed following the 9/11 attacks.

In an interview with Yahoo's Kevin Polowy, "Forrest Gump" screenwriter Eric Roth revealed that he included Simpson's 1994 police chase in the script for the follow-up film.

"I had (Forrest Gump) in the back of O.J.'s Bronco," Roth said. "And that he would look up occasionally and they didn't see him in the rearview mirror, and he'd pop down."

Simpson played in the NFL from 1969 to 1979, spending the majority of his career with the Buffalo Bills.
