Njoku: Browns felt 'disrespected' by Jackson's comments after firing

Hue Jackson was fired from his role as head coach of the Cleveland Browns in October, and his former players weren't pleased with his parting words.

After being let go, Jackson largely blamed others - including then-rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield - for his firing. A month later, Mayfield stared down Jackson, who was working as an assistant coach with the Cincinnati Bengals, during a game.

When asked on Tuesday about Mayfield's actions, Browns tight end David Njoku sided with his signal-caller and claimed he represented the entire locker room.

"Obviously, we weren't happy with what Hue said about us after he left," Njoku said on "The Rich Eisen Show." "It is what it is, and Baker didn't appreciate that. We came together after Hue left and took it upon ourselves to work extra hard to finish the year off strong.

"Baker has a voice, as we all do, and we didn't appreciate what happened," Njoku continued. "It's not like we're robots. We felt, in a way, disrespected. So it is what it is."

Jackson was fired after two-and-a-half seasons in Cleveland, during which he accumulated a dismal 3-36-1 record. After his dismissal, the team finished 2018 by winning five of its last seven games.
