Jets' Johnson: Signing Rodgers 'was a good experiment'
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has no regrets about Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the franchise.
Johnson praised the future Hall of Fame quarterback at the NFL's Annual League Meeting on Monday, describing his signing as a "good experiment" despite it not working out.
"The experiment was a good experiment, to bring him in, but it just didn't work out, as you can see," Johnson said, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. "I have a lot of respect for Aaron Rodgers. He is a great player, a Hall of Famer player. I'm sorry it didn't work out."
The Jets announced in February that they would be releasing Rodgers after two seasons. The 41-year-old started 18 games during his time with the team, completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
The Jets recently signed 26-year-old quarterback Justin Fields as Rodgers' replacement.
