Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko was ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday's 5-3 defeat to the Winnipeg Jets after sustaining an injury in the first period, the team announced.

Kevin Lankinen replaced Demko in net to start the second period.

The Canucks didn't immediately specify the nature of Demko's injury, and it wasn't clear when he sustained it.

Demko allowed three goals on eight shots during the first 20 minutes versus Winnipeg, marking his third straight appearance allowing at least three goals.

The 29-year-old entered Tuesday's contest sporting a 2.57 goals against average and .912 save percentage over his first nine games this season. He signed a three-year deal with an annual $8.5-million cap hit in the summer.
