3 questions heading into the final round of The Open

Branden Grace made headlines Saturday, but it's Jordan Spieth who heads into Sunday at Royal Birkdale with the 54-hole lead at The Open Championship.

Here are three questions heading into the final round at the season's third major:

A Sunday stroll for Spieth?

The last time Jordan Spieth looked like this in a major, he was walking to the 12th hole Sunday at the 2016 Masters. The Texan would splash two balls in Rae's Creek, ultimately losing to Danny Willett. Spieth has been brilliant all week at Royal Birkdale, and now carries a three-shot lead in the final round of The Open.

"Tomorrow's going to be an iffy day out here," Spieth told Steve Sands of the Golf Channel. "Looks like windier conditions and some rain. You come out with a game plan similar to today, set a goal, and keep your head down."

Of the nine times that Spieth has held a 54-hole lead in a tournament, he's closed it out eight times. The lone exception? The 2016 Masters.

Can anyone make Spieth work for it?

Only three players inside the top 10 have won a major title in their careers. Brooks Koepka is tied for third at 5-under par, while Dustin Johnson - who feels he found something on Day 3 - and Henrik Stenson are tied for seventh at 3-under par. Matt Kuchar sits in solo second, despite making a a double-bogey six at the par-4 16th hole Saturday.

"I would've liked to have been a little closer to Jordan," Kuchar told Steve Sands of the Golf Channel. "I'm playing some good golf. I'm very excited for tomorrow."

How will Branden Grace respond?

Grace blistered Royal Birkdale on Saturday, carding a record-breaking 62 in the third round. Prior to his 62, there were 31 rounds of 63 in a major, and only seven of those golfers hoisted the trophy at the end of the tournament. Justin Thomas fired a 9-under-par 63 at Erin Hills, but faded Sunday with a 3-over-par 75. Though it's tough to follow up a great round with another great round, Grace will need to be just as good again to have a shot at the Claret Jug.

"I just want to get out there again tomorrow and try and do something similar," Grace told reporters. "Just play some good golf."
