Bubble watch: The race to get into the FedEx Cup Playoffs
It's last-chance Sunday for many at the Wyndham Chmapionship.
While Henrik Stenson, Ollie Schniederjans, Kevin Na, and Webb Simpson will be fighting for the trophy at Sedgefield on Sunday, others are vying to get inside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings and keep their PGA Tour status.
Here's a look at where those on the bubble stood coming in, how they've fared this week, what they need to do Sunday to lock up a spot, and who's made the biggest jump.

What they need to do
Daniel Summerhays, Cameron Tringale, Ryan Palmer and Billy Hurley III all failed to make the 36-hole cut Friday, meaning their seasons are likely done. However, here's what those who made the cut have to do in order to move on to The Northern Trust on Long Island.
David Hearn
The Canadian always seems to find himself in this dilemma year after year on tour. Hearn took a big step backwards on Saturday, making four bogeys on the back nine to shoot a 3-over-par 73. He currently sits at 2-under for the week. Hearn is the last man in at moment, but has to finish the job with a round in the 60s on Sunday.
Projected FedEx Cup finish: 125
Richy Werenski
The 25-year-old is likely in next week's field with his nice third-round 64 on Saturday, and is in the mix to win his first career PGA Tour victory as he sits at 13-under par.
Projected FedEx Cup finish: 101
Seamus Power
Saturday's back nine couldn't have gone any worse for the Irishman after making the turn at 5-under par for the event. Power made five bogeys and a double-bogey at the par-5 15th to post a 4-over-par 74. Power missed the Saturday cut, which essentially ends his 2016-17 campaign.
Projected FedEx Cup finish: 130
Geoff Ogilvy
The Aussie saved his season on Friday, posting an final-nine 31 to make the weekend. Ogilvy continued his great play on Day 3, posting a 4-under-par 66, and will need one more solid round to secure his PGA Tour card.
Projected FedEx Cup finish: 124
Sam Saunders
Saunders crashed coming down the stretch on Saturday, bogeying three of his last four holes to shoot a 2-over-par 72. The 30-year-old needs to jump up the leaderboard early in the final round and put pressure on those ahead of him.
Projected FedEx Cup finish: 126
From way outside to well inside
Harold Varner III
Varner III entered the Wyndham needing help and great week. So far both have occurred, moving from 138th place into the 114th projected spot, thanks to a 13-under par tournament total.
Johnson Wagner
The three-time PGA Tour winner has posted three rounds in the 60s this week, making a pair of unbelievable shots to jump from 141st place into a projected 115th position.
Player | Position (Aug. 14th) | Points | Pojected finish |
---|---|---|---|
Harold Varner III | 138 | 305 | 114 |
Johnson Wagner | 141 | 287 | 115 |
