Jordan Spieth blamed his caddie, Michael Greller, for two incorrect yardages on the eighth hole during Round 1 of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.

Spieth hit a 253-yard drive past the end of the fairway and into the water. After a drop, his approach shot went over the green and into the rough.

The 25-year-old thought both shots were great.

"Two perfect shots, Michael," Spieth said in comments that could be heard on the broadcast. "You got me in the water on one and over the green on the other."

However, what was not picked up in the broadcast was that Greller attempted to talk Spieth into hitting one less club on his approach shot, according to ESPN's Michael Collins.

Spieth managed to salvage a bogey on the hole.
