Woodland nets $2.25M for U.S. Open win

Gary Woodland is leaving Pebble Beach with much more than the U.S. Open trophy, as the veteran golfer earned a winner's cheque of $2.25 million for his victory on Sunday, as per Golf News Net.

The 35-year-old took home the biggest portion of the U.S. Open-record $12.5-million prize pool, a figure that makes the event the most lucrative of every major.

Of the professional players that made the cut, Chip McDaniel is going home with the smallest prize at $21,229.
