Friday at the Honda Classic did not go well for Matt Every.
After shooting an opening-round 74, the two-time PGA Tour winner carded four bogeys and three double-bogeys in Round 2 to plummet down the leaderboard. And somehow, things got even worse.
On the 202-yard, par-3 fifth - the most difficult hole at PGA National - Every hit his tee shot into the water. Then the next. And the next. And then one more found the water for good measure.
In the end, four water balls plus four penalty strokes led to an 11 on the hole for the extremely rare - at least for professional golfers - octuple-bogey.
The 36-year-old finished strong, at least, with a birdie on the last hole to shoot a 15-over 85.
Every ended up in last by three shots at 19-over.
