Denny McCarthy tested positive for COVID-19 at the Travelers Championship on Friday, he told Golf Channel's Ryan Lavner.

The 27-year-old shot a 67 on Thursday but has withdrawn from the tournament. He woke up in the middle of the night feeling "achy and sore," according to Lavner.

As a result, Bud Cauley also withdrew from the tournament. He played alongside McCarthy in Round 1 and is "just being cautious," Cauley told Golf Channel's George Savaricas.

Matt Wallace was the third member of McCarthy's group but will continue to compete in the Travelers Championship.

Seven players have now withdrawn from the tournament this week due to reasons related to COVID-19. Cameron Champ tested positive, Brooks Koepka's and Graeme McDowell's caddies tested positive, Webb Simpson's family member contracted the virus, and Chase Koepka, Brooks' brother, withdrew for cautionary reasons.

McCarthy is the third player to test positive for COVID-19 after Champ and Nick Watney, the latter of whom tested positive last week at Harbour Town.
