JT wants to silence Tiger's trash-talking son at PNC Championship

When Justin Thomas teams up with his dad, Mike, at the laidback PNC Championship in two weeks, he'll be focused on two things - having fun and kicking Charlie Woods' ass.

The third-ranked player in the world has set his sights on Tiger Woods and his son, who, according to Thomas, has been pushing his major-winning father to play in the event with him for a while.

But Thomas apparently didn't start the playful rivalry. Instead, the trash-talking 11-year-old ignited it, Thomas says.

"For some reason, Charlie just always wants to beat me, it doesn't matter what it is," Thomas said Tuesday at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. "Although he's never beaten me in golf or a putting contest, he still talks trash just like his dad."

Thomas is looking forward to the chance to silence Charlie and put him in his place.

"It will be fun. We'll have that inner tournament within a tournament, trying to shut his little mouth up, but it will be fun," he said.

The tournament will be the first opportunity for the golf world to witness Tiger's son play. Woods surprisingly committed to participate in the event in November.

"I can't tell you how excited I am to be playing with Charlie in our first official tournament together," Woods said last month. "It's been great watching him progress as a junior golfer and it will be incredible playing as a team together in the PNC Championship."

The PNC Championship is a two-day event consisting of 20 teams, with past major championship winners pairing up with a family member. The 36-hole scramble at the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando will be televised on Golf Channel starting Dec. 19.
