Tiger Woods thought he was in Florida when a sheriff's deputy interviewed him shortly after his Feb. 23 car accident in Los Angeles, according to reports released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on Friday, per ESPN's Michael Schlabach.

Deputy Kyle Sullivan wrote in his report that he interviewed Woods at the hospital after the crash while Woods received treatment for a laceration on his face. Sullivan said Woods "did not remember being involved in a traffic collision" and "thought he was currently in the state of Florida."

Investigators revealed Wednesday that Woods was traveling about 40 mph over the speed limit when he crashed a loaned SUV.

"Had (Woods) applied his brakes to reduce his speed or steered to correct the direction of travel, he would not have collided with the center median and the collision would not have occurred," sergeant Michael Downing wrote in a 22-page incident report.

That report concluded Woods "was at fault in this collision for driving at an unsafe speed for road conditions (inability to negotiate a curve in the roadway)."

It also revealed Tiger was knocked unconscious, suffered lacerations to his lower front jaw, bruised right and left rib cages, a fractured right tibia and fibula, and a potential right ankle injury.

Deputy Carlos Gonzalez noted Woods "had an open fracture mid-shaft on his right leg below the knee" and "reacted to pain upon being moved from the vehicle."

Gonzalez said Tiger couldn't perform sobriety tests at the scene of the crash due to his condition. The deputy didn't find any alcoholic beverages, an odor of alcoholic beverages, or prescription medications in the SUV. Police did find an empty pill bottle with no labeling in the front pocket of a backpack in the car, per a supplemental report.

Tiger returned home to Florida on March 16 to complete his recovery after spending three weeks in two California hospitals. There's no timeline for when he can return to the PGA TOUR.
